Grant Applications

The Foundation awards three different types of grants:

Mini Grants

The Foundation awards up to THREE $1,000 per mini-grants per year.  The grant must be used for programs and projects which enhance or supplement the educational opportunities for all learners in the PBL Community Unit School District #10.  Selection criteria is based on the school priorities, innovative/creative projects, and interdisciplinary approach/number of students impacted by the grant.  Applications for these grants are due March 6, 2009, and then awarded in May for use in the following school year.

Opportunity-for-Change Grants

The Foundation will award up to $4,500 per school year in Opportunity-for-Change grants ranging in amount from a minimum of $100 to a maximum of $500 each.  The purpose of this type of grant is to offset the incidental out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies and essentials to support classroom enrichment projects beyond what the district can support.  Proposals should be aimed at classroom/student improvement and/or instructional enhancement.  Funds may not be used for salary or work-time compensation.  The grant may not be used for items that do not have a direct benefit to students.  Some funding ideas:  Technology upgrades, art supplies, classroom camera, field trips, outside speakers, specialized reading materials, student rewards, visual aids.  The Opportunity for Change Grants are for CERTIFIED TEACHERS currently employed in the PBL Unit #10 School District.  Each teacher is eligible for ONE funded grant per year. The application process for this is very simple:  click the link below to go to the on-line application blank.  Fill in the blanks with requested information and then click the Submit button at the bottom of the form by the 15th of any month.  The Foundation will then send the application to your building principal.  Principals must then review the grant request, approve or reject it based on whether they feel it meets the criteria given above, and then email back to the PBL Education Foundation by the 30th of the month.  Announcements of awarded grants will be made by the 15th of the following month.  The application process will be available on a monthly basis until the $4,500 has been exhausted for that year.  If you are not comfortable with applying on-line, you may use the link below to print out a PDF copy of the Opportunity-for-Change Grant application.
