The Foundation awards three different types of
grants:
The Foundation awards up to THREE $1,000 per mini-grants per year. The
grant must be used for programs and projects which enhance or supplement
the educational opportunities for all learners in the PBL Community Unit
School District #10. Selection criteria is based on the school
priorities, innovative/creative projects, and interdisciplinary
approach/number of students impacted by the grant. Applications
for these grants are due March 6, 2009, and then awarded in May for
use in the following school year.

The Foundation will award up to $7,000 for the 2009-10 school year in Opportunity-for-Change grants ranging in amount from a minimum of $100 to a maximum
of $500 each. The purpose of this type of grant is to offset the
incidental out-of-pocket expenses for classroom supplies and essentials
to support classroom enrichment projects beyond what the district can
support. Proposals should be aimed at classroom/student
improvement and/or instructional enhancement. Funds may not be
used for salary or work-time compensation. The grant may not be
used for items that do not have a direct benefit to students. Some
funding ideas: Technology upgrades, art supplies, classroom
camera, field trips, outside speakers, specialized reading materials,
student rewards, visual aids. The Opportunity for Change Grants
are for CERTIFIED TEACHERS currently employed in the PBL Unit #10 School
District. Each teacher is eligible for ONE funded grant per year.
The application process for this is very simple: click the link
below to go to the on-line application blank. Fill in the blanks
with requested information and then click the Submit
button at the bottom of the form by the 15th of any month. The Foundation
will then send the application to your building principal. Principals
must then review the grant request, approve or reject it based on
whether they feel it meets the criteria given above, and then email back
to the PBL Education Foundation by the 30th of the month.
Announcements of awarded grants will be made by the 15th of the
following month. The application process will be available on a
monthly basis until the $4,500 has been exhausted for that year.

The Foundation awards up to one $4,000 or two $2,000 PBL Grants.
Selection criteria is the same for the PBL Grants as the Mini Grants and
Opportunity Grants. To qualify for this grant, the application
request must be submitted through the School improvement team.
This grant may be used for equipment and supplies. Like the Mini Grants,
applications for these grants are due in early spring and then awarded
in May for use in the following school year.
