The PBL Education Foundation raised $6,440 for their Book-a-Month Giving Tuesday campaign. These funds will purchase one book per month for over 500 Clara Peterson students.

“The past two years we have been able to provide books for students during the months of January through May,” said Robin Niewold, Foundation Chairman. “Thanks to our generous donors we exceeded our goal and will be able to provide books through the remainder of the school year and into next Fall.”

These books are given to students to take home, read and enjoy for years to come. The Foundation understands that providing students with the resources to develop reading and literacy skills is vital to their success.

Third grade teacher Tiffany Lipton shared, “My kids’ eyes light up when they find out they get to take these books home to read and share with their families! It makes my heart burst to see their excitement about reading, thanks to the Book-a-Month Program.”

The Book-a-Month program has also provided opportunities for teachers to use the donated books in the classroom.

Kathy Goodson, Fifth grade teacher said, “We are going to do a novel study as a whole class with one of the donated books and the kids are over the moon! So many are already diving in and enjoying reading!  We can’t thank The Foundation enough for their generosity!”

The Foundation extends their gratitude to the campaign donors and recognizes local businesses Monical’s Pizza of Paxton, Pro-Type Printing, Doug’s Compounding Pharmacy, Heyman & Heyman Optometrists, Shields Automart, and Paxton IGA for their $500 donations.

The PBL Education Foundation’s mission is to provide our students and staff access to academic resources they need to become their best. Donations to the Foundation are accepted year round at Support Us.
