PBL Education Foundation elects new officers, awards grants

The Paxton-Buckley-Loda Education Foundation’s board of trustees held its annual meeting on Aug. 9, electing new officers for the 2018-19 school year. Elected were Robin Niewold as chairman, Leslie Cottrell as vice chairman, Theresa Rueck as finance chairman and Connie Ross as secretary. Chef Niewold’s Pop-Up “Book Tasting”

Students in Lisa Niewold' s 4th grade class were treated to a unique "dining" experience to start off their school year. 2017-18 Book Fairs

Kindergarten through 8th grade book fairs have recently been completed in the PBL school district. Three long-time donors—Farmers-Merchants National Bank of Paxton and Melvin, Gibson Area Hospital and Health Services, and Cynthia Swanson of Paxton—continue to generously support the PBL Education Foundation in its endeavor to provide coupons for students to use at the annual book fairs for grades K-8. 2018 Virginia Graham Memorial Scholarship

Logan Knuth, daughter of Ron and Lori Knuth of Paxton, was recently named the Virginia Graham Memorial Scholarship winner for 2018. The award was presented by Theresa Rueck of the PBL Education Foundation. 2018 Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship

Jaxson Coplea, son of Mark and Jodi Coplea of Loda, was recently awarded the Prospect Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star Scholarship.  The award was presented by Caryl Nuckols. Jeremy Steidinger, son of Brian and Cathy Steidinger of Gibson City was recently named the Farmers-Merchants National Bank scholarship winner for 2018.  The award was presented by Nicholas Ruetter of FMNB.
